Be berry healthy with blueberries!
Smoothies are a great way to maximise nutrition when you are pushed for time. I tend to stick to the same formula with my smoothies and just vary the fruit. I don’t have these everyday but they are delicious, healthy and good to include on a regular basis into your diet. Smoothies are great for kids, especially fussy eaters and the variety is endless. They can be as simple as milk, banana and vanilla or more complex to maximise their nutritional content.
Use fruits in season, have as a snack or a meal.
1-3/4 cup of fresh or frozen fruit, I used blueberries today
1 tablespoon of flaxseeds
1/2 tablespoon of olive oil ( uncooked, this is great for your heart)
1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh turmeric ( great for inflammation)
1 teaspoon raw cacao powder (magnesium)
2 scoops protein powder, I use a pea protein powder ( look for no sugar or additives)
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon ( great for blood pressure)
1 cup of milk of choice, I used almond milk
Add all ingredients to a high powered blender and blend for 30 seconds to mix.
Pour into serving glass
